Kathy is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Kathy received a degree from University of Nebraska Omaha, majoring in both Criminal Justice and Psychology.
Kathy received a nursing degree from Omaha Practical School of Nursing with experience with cancer, cardiac and geriatric patients.
She also completed a practicum in addictions for adolescence and adults, both inpatient and outpatient. In addition, she completed a practicum in emergency services at the American Red Cross.
Kathy did Ph.D. work at the California School of Professional Psychology
. She has instructed and trained counseling and social work students.
Kathy trained with nationally known experts such as Bernie Seigel, MD; David Burns, MD; Foster Cline, MD; Anna Salter, Ph.D.; and Masters and Johnson.
Locally, Kathy trained with Ann Potter, Ph.D. and Steve Skulsky, Ph.D
Kathy has over 25 years of experience as a clinical therapist.
As an only child, Kathy endured emotional and physical torture at the hands of her mentally ill
, drug addicted mother and alcoholic father. This resulted in her removal from the home by the courts at age 14. Kathy had learned to survive at an early age, but the real problems had just begun. She had to overcome guilt, fear and anxiety to believe she deserved and could obtain life's gifts.
Kathy understands first hand that the very tools we use to survive
cripple us when trying to initiate a healthy way of living.
